Summer Hostess gift for the win

summer hostess gifts

Summer brings lots of parties, BBQ's, and road trip travels. I never want to show up empty handed, and am always looking for new ideas than my go-to bottle of wine. When browsing Anthropologie last weekend, I spotted these adorable dish towels and had a new idea come to mind! Why not pair one of our new notepads with a funky dish towel!? So, I did just that. Add a cute tag and a favorite pen and you have a fun and different hostess gift! Do you have a favorite go-to hostess gift? I'd love to hear it!

Notepads + Frameable Cards, Oh My!

frameable cards

You may have seen the sneak peeks throughout the last few weeks, but today is the day. I am so excited to announce the launch of our NEW products: notepads + frameable cards. I'm a paper lover at heart, and I love sending handmade (and hand lettered) gifts! One of my favorite little snail mail goodies I send are inspiration quotes + sayings. Others liked this service, so the idea of offering a "frameable" card was born. How nice would it be to mail a friend a little pick me up that they can frame or pin to their bulletin board as a reminder? Well now you can! Each card is 5x7 and comes with a small little notecard for you to write your message on instead of the print. Sign, seal and mail for someone to receive a little happy in their mailbox!

And then there are the notepads! You can never have too many notepads, am I right? And they make great little hostess + teacher gifts! All notepads are printed in black and white with a fun hand lettered saying! Choose from dream big, just sayin, XOXO, groceries, and everyone's favorite get sh#t done. Add a pen from our supply shop and you have a great little package!

Hope you enjoy the new goods! Would love to hear what your favorites are! And the first 20 orders today will receive a FREE card with purchase! Enjoy.

XOXO,

Heather

Summer Bucket List 2016 + Giveaway

Giveaway winner is Roselle P!

Today marks the last day of school for us in Texas, which means summer is officially upon us. And I keep having the song "school's out for summer" replaying in my head. The kids and I started a tradition last year, and it was such a hit that we're doing it again, but this time sharing it with all of you! We wrote out all the things we wanted to do over the summer and created a fun "bucket list" for all to see. That list hung on the fridge throughout the summer months, and the kids were so excited to check things off! We were able to look forward to our big trips and it gave us ideas on the days we had nothing to do. So I thought, why not create one that we can share with everyone, and then leave a few blank spots for you to fill in your own plans!? And that's exactly what I did. So, without further ado... meet our Summer Bucket List 2016! Feel free to print it out, add to it, and then hang on your own fridge. We like to color things in as we do them, but you can come up with your own system. Click on the image below and grab the free PDF printable! (this is for personal use only)

Design Roots Summer Bucket List

And that's not all! To celebrate the beginning of summer vacation, I've teamed up with Carmen of The Flair Exchange to bring you a few party supplies to get you in that summer spirit! If you aren't familiar with The Flair Exchange, they offer everything from confetti, tassel garlands, balloons, and other fun party goods. And the best thing? You can CUSTOMIZE to your own color palette! Today she's graciously giving away 1 tassel garland kit in 'poolside', 1 box of confetti in 'poolside', and 1 set of coasters in 'blooming florals'. For a chance to enter, leave a comment below with 1 thing you're most looking forward to this summer. And then hop over to my Instagram and comment on the bucket list picture for another chance! Winner will be announced Sunday.

Have a great weekend!

xoxo,

heather

NEW Supplies added to the Shop!

design roots supply shop

The Design Roots shop is getting a little makeover. And the first spot we're making some changes is within the "calligraphy + supplies" section. I get questions all the time about what pens I'm using, what tools I carry with me when I travel, and what are my favorites. So to make it easy, I thought I'd carry those favorites in the shop! You can purchase refills on your calligraphy supplies and add in some new tools to try. One stop shop! Take a peek, and then head to the shop to see more!

Gold gelly roll (great for dark envelopes), MONO Eraser (I use on everything), and MONO Twin Marker (great for doodling).

Two of my favorite pads to travel with: Artagain Black Paper and the Rhoida blank pad

And if you're reading this, enjoy 15% OFF your purchase through the weekend with code: SUPPLY15. Happy Weekend y'all!

3rd Annual Envelope Contest Winner!

Happy Tuesday y'all! Once again, we were overjoyed with the response we got for our #drMailSwap16! Checking our mailbox during the month of April became my favorite thing, and I loved seeing all the unique envelopes and sweet notes inside. A huge thank you to all who participated and sent something in during National Letter Writing Month! We had everything from watercolor, gold ink, zentangles, trees + florals,a nod to Texas, and even illuminated letters! There were definitely a few that stood out to me, but before we announce our winner, we have to show you some of our favorites!

Watercolor gets me every time... and I love the different uses here!

And being a Texas girl, I flipped out over this one!

But there was one envelope that took my breath away. This envelope had so many pieces to it, including a beautiful brush lettering print inside. This envelope has inspired me to pull out my gold leaf and brush up on my illuminated letters. So the winner of this year's envelope contest goes to...(drumroll please)... Cherie T. from Savannah, Texas! Congrats girl - keep up the good work! Please email me for details ;)

Thanks again for all who participated! You'll be getting some special mail from me soon. And if you didn't get an envelope in on time, please send anyways - we LOVE snail mail! And I will always try and send a letter back to you. #sendmoresnailmail
