A few Saturdays ago we hosted our first Calligraphy 2.0 workshop at Missing Q Letterpress in historic Downtown McKinney. We were so fortunate that Jason, the shop owner, opened his workspace up for students to spend the morning sipping mimosas and learning the next steps when it comes to calligraphy.
Surrounded by fresh flowers, freshly baked scones from Clare of Cupcakes & Frosting, and the beautiful backdrop of the Missing Q pressroom (letterpress machines, wood blocks, stacks of paper, and loads of inspiration) the girls were set to take their calligraphy skills to the next level.
Classes like this are special since students must have taken a prior calligraphy class either with Design Roots or elsewhere... meaning, they must know the basics. These are the students who enjoy the craft and really have a desire to hone it. Calligraphy 2.0 provides students with new skills from mixing and creating ink colors to learning how to address envelopes not only with text but swashes and other flourishes.
A huge thank you to Jason at Missing Q Press for letting us invade his beautiful space and for providing all the letterpress prints and goodies, some of which can be found in our shop. If you're ever in the McKinney area be sure to stop by Missing Q, say hello to Jason, and check out the selection of hand picked Design Roots merchandise which is now being sold there!
And for some more exciting news: if hearing about this class got you excited, then you're in luck! We just added a new Calligraphy 2.0 workshop to the schedule, along with a few other class dates! We'll be adding July and August dates shortly so check back often or sign up for our newsletter!
